Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: I am coming to AJ09 as a member of staff; do I require a Disclosure check? A: All adults who are members of staff at AJ09, whether they are a member of The Scout Association, Girlguiding UK or they are a friend of Scouting/Guiding who has agreed to assist at the event, must have a current Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (CRB or Access Northern Ireland if living in other parts of the UK) which has been issued by Scouting or Girlguiding, within the last five years and they must have had continuous service as a member of their relevant Scout or Guide Movement during the time since the Disclosure was issued. Any adult from a National Scout or Guide Organisation outside the UK, will require to provide a letter from their National Scout or Guide Organisation confirming that they have been appointed in accordance with that country’s rules and that they are in good standing. Queries relating to Disclosure checking should be referred to Gary Bainbridge in the Jamboree Office. 24.10.08 Q: I am coming to AJ09, as an adult with a Group of Scouts or Guides; do I require a Disclosure check? A: All adults who are camping with their Group, must have a current Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (CRB or Access Northern Ireland if living in other parts of the UK) which has been issued by Scouting or Guiding, within the last five years and they must have had continuous service as a member of their relevant Scout or Guide Movement during the time since the Disclosure was issued. 24.10.08 Q: I need to have a Disclosure done to enable me to come to AJ09, who will do this? A: Please contact your District Appointments Secretary (or whoever carries out Disclosure checks for you locally) in the first instance. If they cannot help you, please contact Gary Bainbridge in the Jamboree Office. 24.10.08 Q: I am a member of Scout Network and want to apply to come on the staff team or assist with a Group that is coming to AJ09. Do I need a Disclosure check? A: Yes, you do. 24.10.08 Q: I see that you are organising shopping trips on a daily basis, does this mean that all Groups have to use this service or can we organise our own shopping trip? A: Groups are encouraged to use the event's shopping trips where possible but where a Group wants to organise their own shopping, they can, provided that there are still adults available on site to deal with any issues that arise with your young people and you should ensure that your shopping trips are carried out between 9am and 5pm. You should also be aware that due to the large number of vehicles that will be at Auchengillan, it will not be possible for everyone to get access to their car to drive off-site during the event and their will be no Group vehicles allowed to move around the site for the duration of the event. 24.10.08 Q: Do all of our adults have to stay on-site at all times or can they go off-site, into a local town on their day-off? A: Their should be enough adults (a minimum of two) on-site to deal with anything that might arise with your Groups young people at all times. That aside, adults are free to go off-site if they are not "on duty" but all adults will be expected to return to site by a reasonable hour each night and the leadership team will be expected to ensure that they look after the needs of their young people at all times. 24.10.08 More Info... | News: Looking for recruitment help?![]() Looking for some help recruiting adults for your Scout Group?
